When do I need to test my x-ray machine? In Ontario, the H.A.R.P. Act states that for new or newly installed used machines, testing is required within 60 days of installation (H.A.R.P. 8.4,5), furthermore, annual testing of Patient Entrance Exposure, Half Value Layer and Beam Diameter at the Patient Entrance Surface is required. Annual type testing is also required after alteration or servicing of the unit. More FAQs...
There are various aspects of testing that are required under the H.A.R.P. ACT. A number of forms are required by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care when a new office is opened, new equipment is purchased or there is a change of ownership.
Any podiatric facility that uses x-ray equipment to irradiate humans in Ontario is bound by the H.A.R.P. Act. The complete Act can be read by clicking here. Podiatric offices using x-rays need to appoint a radiation protection officer (clause 8), who is responsible for ensuring that the office is in compliance with the H.A.R.P. Act.

I have been a client of Varanidex for over 25 years. I would not hesitate to recommend them as they have always conducted themselves in a very courteous knowledgeable fashion.
